Opening — The heart of it

The secret ingredient has always been love.

Cooking has shaped my life, my work, and the way I see the world. It has taken me across countries and into extraordinary kitchens. I’ve experienced moments of quiet learning that never make it onto a menu.
This is a story — of kitchens, people, ingredients, and the knowledge passed down through generations.

Where it all began

I stepped into my first professional kitchen at the age of 12.

What began as curiosity quickly became a calling. I was attracted to the rhythm of the kitchen. Admired the discipline behind great food. Took pleasure in the simple satisfaction of doing something properly. From the very beginning, I learned that cooking wasn’t about shortcuts. It wasn’t about applause. It was about patience, repetition, and respect for ingredients.

That early experience set the tone for everything that followed.

A life in kitchens

My journey took me through some of the finest kitchens in London. I worked at The Dorchester, The Savoy, and the Hilton. Standards were uncompromising at these establishments. Excellence was expected every day.

I was fortunate to work in Michelin-starred environments. Later, I became head chef at a converted shooting lodge in Scotland. There, the focus returned to ingredients, seasonality, and honest cooking. Along the way, I was honoured to receive two Rosettes for fine food.

Each kitchen added a layer — not just of technique, but of understanding.

What the journey taught me

Cooking teaches you that there is no final destination — only a horizon that keeps moving.

Ingredients carry stories. Techniques carry history. The best cooks are those who stay curious, ask questions, and never stop learning. Over time, I came to realise that great food isn’t about complexity — it’s about knowledge, balance, and purpose.

That belief sits at the heart of Kook’s Secrets: cooking with understanding, not just following recipes.

This is where flavour meets knowledge, and where cooking becomes a lifelong journey rather than a destination.
