📜History
Napolitana sauce comes from southern Italy, particularly Naples, where tomatoes became central to everyday cooking.
It’s one of the earliest and most widely used tomato sauces — forming the base for countless pasta dishes.
01 · What is it
Nap sauce is a basic tomato sauce made from:
- Tomatoes
- Garlic
- Olive oil
- Salt
Sometimes finished with basil.
👅 What it taste like
- Bright and slightly acidic
- Light sweetness from tomatoes
- Clean and fresh
👉 It should taste like tomatoes — not sugar.
🍽️ Best Uses
- Pasta sauces
- Base for other sauces
- Pizza sauce
- Simple dishes
🔥 Why it works
This works because of restraint:
- Gentle cooking → preserves flavour
- Simple ingredients → clarity
- Time → develops balance
👉 It’s not about adding more — it’s about doing less properly.
“If the tomatoes are good, don’t interfere.”
