📜History

Napolitana sauce comes from southern Italy, particularly Naples, where tomatoes became central to everyday cooking.

It’s one of the earliest and most widely used tomato sauces — forming the base for countless pasta dishes.

01 · What is it

Nap sauce is a basic tomato sauce made from:

  • Tomatoes
  • Garlic
  • Olive oil
  • Salt

Sometimes finished with basil.

👅 What it taste like

  • Bright and slightly acidic
  • Light sweetness from tomatoes
  • Clean and fresh

👉 It should taste like tomatoes — not sugar.

🍽️ Best Uses

  • Pasta sauces
  • Base for other sauces
  • Pizza sauce
  • Simple dishes

🔥 Why it works

This works because of restraint:

  • Gentle cooking → preserves flavour
  • Simple ingredients → clarity
  • Time → develops balance

👉 It’s not about adding more — it’s about doing less properly.

“If the tomatoes are good, don’t interfere.”
